The club is open to runners of all abilities, from those just starting out to those in training for marathons. The emphasis is on running to your expectations, although if you do wish to improve your overall fitness and running ability you can choose to run in the Speed/Conditioning Sessions.

The original thinking behind Netley Abbey Runners was to allow runners to train together in small groups, rather than on their own.  This means that the runs are more social and (during the dark, damp winter months) it adds ‘safety in numbers’ compared to running alone.  Please take time to read our Safe Running Guide before joining us on your first run.

The Beginners Session is a Run England Group that runs throughout the year for new (and born-again) runners that would like to be led by an accredited Leader in Running Fitness (Alexandra).  The aim of the course is to take you from (possibly) not running at all to being able to run 5k without stopping (at your own pace).  The course incorporates walking and running and will get you to a standard to join in with the more progressive runs.  The course runs for 10 weeks and costs £30.

We also offer the Friday Family Run each Friday evening for those of you that want to bring your children along for a fun 2k run in a safe environment. Before you come along please have a quick read through the Friday Family Run Guide so you know the ins and outs of running with the young ones!

If you love running in competition races click to find out details of the superb Hampshire Road Race League and CC6 Cross Country races that we compete in throughout the year.

If you enjoy an organised weekend morning run then we would suggest signing up to parkrun in Netley Abbey, which takes place every Saturday morning in Victoria Country Park (the run begins at 9am sharp). You can sign up for the parkrun here. We have runners that attend every weekend (including our youngest runner aged 4 and our oldest in their 60s!)

All Beginners and club members can add their names to the list of runners and proudly show the number of runs you have been on, your goals and your PBs! Alex, Nick, Chris, Stuart and Ria have completed the Leadership in Running Fitness Course and are all accredited Run Leaders. We are now very proud to be a UK Athletics Affiliated Running Club!

All ages and abilities are welcome to join us.

Club membership is £26 per year for adults and free for children aged 4-17.  All members will be UKA Affiliated runners.

Netley Abbey Runners was formed in January 2015 to invite local runners to run in a friendly group in some of the most beautiful parts of the surrounding area. The idea behind the club is to get fit in a fun, running environment!

We meet throughout the week for runs in and around Netley Abbey, Butlocks Heath, Bursledon, Weston Shore, Hamble and Southampton.
